Girolamo Zanchi (1516–1590) — commonly known as Jerome Zanchius — was an Italian Reformed theologian who became one of the most rigorous systematic theologians of the early Reformed tradition. His treatise on absolute predestination, translated and popularized by Augustus Toplady, is a precise defense of the Calvinist doctrine of election from both Scripture and patristic sources.
